"When We Were Young" is a song recorded by Adele, taken from her third studio album, 25. The song was written by Adele with Tobias Jesso Jr., and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid. It appears as the fourth track on the album. Adele has stated on numerous occasions that "When We Were Young" is her favorite song on the album. On December 14, a representative from Adele's US record distributor, Columbia Records, confirmed that "When We Were Young" would be released as the album's second single. It was sent to radio on January 22, 2016, and released worldwide on February 5, 2016.
Adele commissioned Strobe for the song's official remix, which was released on January 17, 2016. Columbia Records went on to state that they felt the remix was "better" than the original.
The song has been performed on numerous occasions, including Adele's Adele at the BBC and Adele Live in New York City specials. A live performance from the Church Studios in London was uploaded to Vevo prior to the album's release and has since been released to various iTunes stores around the world.
