Dean Josiah Cover, professionally known as Inflo, is an English record producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He helms the R&B music collective project Sault, which foregrounds black-centric issues.
Inflo co-wrote and produced three songs for Adele’s fourth studio album, 30 — “Woman Like Me,” “Hold On” and “Love Is a Game.” The two artists met in New York in 2019, shortly after Inflo had worked with Adele’s friend and former collaborator Jack Peñate. Adele and Inflo bonded after discovering they were the same age and had both grown up in North London.[1]
Adele described Inflo as “the calmest person I’ve ever met” and “a really amazing, spiritual guy,”[2] while attributing the success of their professional relationship to Inflo’s ability to be “brutally honest” with her.[3]
“ | Meeting Flo, the reason that we gelled together so well with this record is, first of all, he asked me questions that no one would ever bloody dare… But it would start with five, six-hour therapy sessions and he would get a feeling out of me that I had no idea was even in me; and then I’d leave at the end of the day with a song about that feeling. He would push me and say, ‘I don’t believe you’ or ‘You can do better than that.’[1] | ” |
Inflo is a frequent collaborator of Danger Mouse, who co-wrote and produced “River Lea” from Adele’s third studio album, 25.
