Background[edit | edit source]
"Lay Me Down" is one of two songs that Adele wrote with Tobias Jesso Jr. for 25, the other being "When We Were Young," which she considers to be her favorite song she's ever written.
During her "Up Close and Personal" interview with Julie James, Adele briefly talked about the song, noting that most of the song was written by Jesso prior to her arrival at his friend's house, where they were working:
“ | He wrote me a song, which was amazing, and I was so flattered that he wrote me a song. And [...] if I asked someone to write me a song, I would want it to sound like how his sounded.[1] | ” |
