“Love in the Dark” is a song recorded by Adele, taken from her third studio album, 25. The song was written by Adele with Sam Dixon, who also produced the song. The song appears as the eighth track on the album.
Background[]
When asked by a fan at a show in Berlin about the song, Adele revealed that she has rehearsed “Love in the Dark” with her band and that there were plans to add it to the setlist of the Adele Live 2016 tour at some point.[1] During her show in Verona, Italy on May 28, 2016, Adele performed the song live for what she claimed would be the only time, adding that, “It makes me very emotional.”[2] She dedicated the performance to the co-writer of the song, Sam Dixon, who was in the audience that night.
In popular culture[]
“Love in the Dark” unexpectedly gained popularity on TikTok in late summer 2021, with many of the videos posted focusing on the song’s status as one of Adele’s most underrated album tracks. By the end of September, the song had become the most streamed song on 25 — including the album’s four singles — and the third most popular track in Adele’s discography at the time overall, a rarity for a six-year-old album track.[3]
