The MTV Video Music Awards (also known as the MTV VMAs or simply the VMAs) were established in the end of the summer of 1984 by MTV to celebrate the top music videos of the year. Adele has received three awards. Choreographer Marguerite Derricks was nominated alongside Adele for "Chasing Pavements." Adele's three awards for "Rolling in the Deep" were shared with art director Nathan Parker, cinematographer Tom Townend, and Art Jones at Work for editing.

2011[]
In 2011, Adele performed "Someone Like You" live at the 2011 VMA award show. By the end of the performance, she left the majority of the audience, including Britney Spears, in tears. Adele credits her appearance at the 2011 VMAs with "uniting" her with now-friend Lady Gaga as well.
The music video for "Rolling in the Deep" won three awards at the 2011 ceremony, for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
