"My Same" is a song by British soul singer Adele released on her debut album 19. It was written and produced by Adele. The song was written solely by Adele and produced by Jim Abbiss. It appears as the tenth track on the album.
It charted in Germany after German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut had performed it on the talent show contest Unser Star für Oslo (Our Star for Oslo), in which the German entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was determined. Lena also covered it on her album. It charted at #61 in Germany.
"My Same" was written while Adele was studying at the BRIT School. Originally intended solely for a demo she recorded for a class project, it was later submitted to XL Recordings after they had discovered and signed Adele. The demo also included rough versions of "Daydreamer" and "Hometown Glory." It featured two versions of "My Same," one of which was labelled a "jazz version." An early demo of "My Same," assumed to be the jazz version, has since appeared on the Internet.
According to Adele during her performance filmed for Live at the Royal Albert Hall, "My Same" was written after she had a falling out with her best friend, Laura. She also said that they had since rekindled their friendship. Laura was present at the concert and was briefly shown in the audience during the performance.
Adele played the guitar on the album version of the track.
