"Rise" is a popular song originally performed by Gabrielle, released in January 2000.[1] When Adele was still in school, she covered the song at one of her talent shows. It was the first time she publicly showcased her vocal abilities.[2] She had dressed up like Gabrielle as well, thanks to her mother, who made her an eyepatch with sequins, which Adele was apparently embarrassed by.[3]
"Rise" was the second of two known Gabrielle songs that Adele covered as a child, the first being "Dreams."
