January[]

During the January 13, 2016 episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Adele appeared in the “Carpool Karaoke” segment. The segment featuring Adele reached 42 million views within 5 days, making it the most viral video originating from a late night program since 2013, when the trailer for Captain America: Civil War premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and reached 31 million views in the same timeframe.[1]

The segment included six songs. Adele and Corden sang four songs from Adele’s discography—“Hello,” “Someone Like You,” “All I Ask,” and “Rolling in the Deep.” Additionally, they covered the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe,” and Adele rapped Nicki Minaj’s verse from the Kanye West track “Monster.”[2] After the episode aired, the Spice Girls and Nicki Minaj took to social media to praise Adele for her covers of their respective songs.[3][4] Adele’s cover of “Monster” caused it to re-enter the US and UK iTunes charts.[5]

December[]
