The Raconteurs (also known as The Saboteurs in Australia) is an American rock band that was formed in Detroit, Michigan, featuring four members known for other musical projects: Jack White (formerly of The White Stripes, currently The Dead Weather, as well as solo), Brendan Benson (solo), Jack Lawrence (of The Greenhornes, Blanche and The Dead Weather), and Patrick Keeler (also of The Greenhornes).
Adele appeared on an alternate version of The Raconteurs’ single “Many Shades of Black.” The original version of the song was included on their album Consolers of the Lonely, while the version featuring Adele’s vocals was released on the deluxe edition of her debut album, 19. Adele also performed a live cover of their song “Steady, As She Goes.”
According to Adele, Jack White was almost one of the producers on her sophomore album, 21:
“ | We were doing a lot of collaborations after ‘Many Shades of Black.’ We were going to get together in Detroit after the 2009 Grammys and finish some tracks and then it never happened. It’ll happen at some point. I definitely want to follow it up.[1] | ” |
