Tobias Jesso Jr. (born July 11, 1985) is a Canadian musician from North Vancouver, British Columbia. He started his career in music as bassist for the band The Sessions and eventually for former teen pop singer Melissa Cavatti. His debut album Goon was released in 2015. [1]

On January 21, 2015, Adele tweeted a link to his song "How Could You Babe," calling it "fantastic." [2] He responded to her tweet in an interview with Billboard, stating, "Since my first interview, I've been saying how much Adele's music meant to me. My jaw just dropped." [3] Michael Hann of The Guardian even wrote that Jesso's success was due, in part, to Adele's acknowledgement of his music. [4]

In August 2015, Billboard confirmed that Tobias Jesso Jr. was one of several artists that collaborated with Adele on her forthcoming studio album, and added that his contribution to the record was a "reportedly standout" track. [5] The following month, Sia released "Alive," a song originally co-written with Adele and Jesso for Adele's album, as the lead single for her seventh studio album, This Is Acting. [6]In November of the same year, Adele released her third studio album, 25, which included two collaborations with Jesso—"When We Were Young" and "Lay Me Down," the former of which Adele considers her favorite song she's ever written.
